Hezbollah issued a statement Wednesday condemning the recent blasts in Iraqi and Afghan cities targeting Muslim worshippers on pilgrimages for Ashura’, which led to the death and injury of hundreds of innocent believers.

The statement noted that "millions of masses of believers across the world presented a solemn spectacle through commemorating the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (AS), and expressed the greatness of the occasion and the role it plays in promoting the doctrine of rejecting the injustice and tyranny, and standing up for right."

Hezbollah called in its statement on “all forces and countries in the Islamic world to renounce this shameful and criminal behavior which seeks to sow strife between Muslims in order to serve the American plan [in the region].”

The event of Ashoura’ this year in the Arab and Muslim world “is the power of Islam, Muslims, Arabs and oppressed of every religion and race in the face of their enemies,” the statement stressed.

Hezbollah called upon dealing with respect in front of Wednesday 10th of Muharram marches, as well as with appreciation and support.

"This will grant the power for all of us in the face of enemies, and prevent groups of conspiracy from resorting to the inciting discourse or committing murders and crimes, in order to serve the US and Israel and weaken the force of Arabs and Muslims," the statement read.

Hezbollah also paid condolences to the martyrs of Ashoura’ 2011, hoping that God accepts them at His mercy, and prayed to God Almighty to bless the wounded a speedy recovery.

Twin blasts at Afghan shrines on the holy day of Ashura’ killed at least 58 people on Tuesday with one massive suicide attack in Kabul ripping through a crowd of worshippers, including children.

A wave of bomb attacks targeting pilgrims in Iraq killed 28 people and wounded 78 Monday, a day before the peak of the Ashura’ religious commemorations.
