The Israeli mayor and his constituents in the occupied Palestinian city of Ras Al-Ain (Rosh Ha'ayin) will take action against the Muslim “disturbing calls for prayers” in the nearby city of Kafr Qassem, after settlers raised their complaints on the sounds claiming “they are a disturbance that harms their quality of life”.
Haaretz reported that “this appeal stems from a number of complaints lodged by town residents,” quoting a settler as saying that “our neighborhoods are located on a hill; and this location means that residents hear muezzin calls very strongly.
On the other hand, the Israeli website said that “residents of Kafr Qassem complain about intolerable infringement of their worship.”
"We are doing everything, in terms of acoustics… We lessened the tone and decibels, but we can't do anything beyond that… What's happening here is straightforward racism. We will make sure the muezzin is heard tomorrow and the next day,” Haaretz quoted Mayor of Kafr Qassem Nader Sarsur as saying.
