Obama warned Thursday of Iran’s nuclear power, saying this contradicts with the “national security of the United States and its allies, especially Israel.
Moreover, in a reception he held in the White House, which was attended by Zionist leaders and rabbis, Obama vowed "unshakable support and commitment to the security of Israel”.
In his statement on Iran, Obama said “Iran won't be allowed to reach nuclear weapons' capabilities”, adding that “Iran was isolated in the international community as a result of American efforts".
The Israeli website Haaretz further reported that “Obama spoke of what he said were the lengths the US had gone to ensure Iran would pay a price for its nuclear aspirations.”
"It is very important to remember, particularly given some of the political noise out there, that this administration has systematically imposed the toughest sanctitons on Iran ever" Haaretz further quoted the US president as saying.
"Today, Iran is isolated, and the world is unified in applying the toughest sanctions that Iran has ever experienced. And it's having an impact inside of Iran. And that is a consequence of the extraordinary work that's been done by our national security team,” he added.
