Thousands of Tunisians rallied on Saturday to commemorate the pioneering revolution of the Arab Spring.
Newly-elected President Moncef Marzouki joined the crowds in the town of Sidi Bouzid, where Mohammad Bou Azizi’s clash with the policewoman took place.
"Thank you to this land, which has been marginalized for centuries, for bringing dignity to the entire Tunisian people," Marzouki said before crowds.
"Our role is to bring back the joy of living which had been stolen by despots," the Tunisian president added.
