Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Alexander Lukashevich said on Thursday that Moscow believes taking any action against Iran such as toughening oil embargo will leave no impact on the country.
'We have repeatedly reiterated that Russia opposes any anti-Iran action by the international community and believes it will be useless,' Lukashevich said to IRNA.
Today, “it is obvious clear that previous sanctions against Iran were all futile,” he added.
Russia invites all countries mainly those involved in Iran’s nuclear negotiations to resume talks between Tehran and the G5+1, stated the Russian foreign ministry spokesman.
“Russia has always opposed unilateral sanctions imposed by the West over Iran’s peaceful nuclear activities and the country’s officials underline that negotiations will be the only way to solve the current stalemate,” Lukashevich noted.
In the meantime, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov and Russian top negotiator on Thursday strongly criticized the policy of the US and other western countries on Iran and said “I am quite confident that anti-Iran sanctions are doomed to failure.”
