Deputy Foreign Minister for Arabian Middle East and African affairs, Hussein Amir-Abdollahiyan on Tuesday described Iran-Russia ties as excellent and strategic.
Speaking to reporters, he noted that Tehran and Moscow play an effective role in the region and they have regular talks on various issues.
Iranian and Russian officials have always had close diplomatic consultations over regional and international developments, he added.
Referring to his meeting with his Russian counterpart, Mikhail Bogdanov, Amir-Abdollahiyan pointed out they discussed the main regional and international developments in a friendly atmosphere.
Stating that Tehran and Moscow have a common understanding over most of the issues, he added that regular talks between officials will lead to a better understanding of regional and global affairs.
As to the Russian step-by-step plan for Iran’s peaceful nuclear program, he said that the scheme whose major pivot is to recognize Iran’s nuclear rights is being reviewed with a positive attitude by Iranian experts.
Iran has excellent ties with its neighbors, he noted.
Amir-Abdollahiyan arrived in Moscow on a two-day visit to continue talks on regional developments and issues of mutual concern.
