On Thursday, the monitors were due to visit Daraa, the northern provinces of Hama and Idlib and around Damascus.
"As of Wednesday evening, and from Thursday at dawn, the observers will deploy in Idlib and Hama and in Daraa," mission chief General Mohammed Ahmed Mustafa al-Dabi told AFP.

A day earlier, the Arab observers wrapped their tour in Homs, stressing the situation in the city was “reassuring”.

The head of the delegation, Sudanese General Mohamed Ahmed Mustafa al-Dabi that although some parts of the restive city, which observers visited a day earlier, were "not good", he saw "nothing frightening" in Homs, Reuters reported.

"There were some places where the situation was not good. But there wasn't anything frightening, at least while we were there. Things were calm and there were no clashes," he said.
"We did not see tanks but we did see some armored vehicles."

"But remember this was only the first day and it will need investigation. We have 20 people who will be there for a long time," Gen. Dabi continued.
