Four people were killed and other 19 were injured in a wave of violence that hit the western Iraqi city of Ramadi.
The coordinated attacks that included car bombs and suicide blasts and the storming of a police compound began at around 11:30 am (0830 GMT), with insurgents and police still exchanging gunfire at around 2:30 pm (1130 GMT), according to officials.
Three initial car bombs -- two of which were near a mosque -- in central Ramadi left three people wounded, according to a police official and a medic at the city's main hospital.
A subsequent car bomb followed by two suicide attacks at the police compound, which was then stormed by gunmen, killed four police and wounded 16 others, the two officials said, speaking on condition of anonymity.
