The Loyalty to the Resistance bloc on Wednesday congratulated the Lebanese people for the agreement signed with the Kuwaiti Fund to launch the Litani Project.

The Loyalty to the Resistance bloc on Wednesday congratulated the Lebanese people in general and the residents of the South in particular for the agreement which Lebanon signed on Tuesday with the Kuwaiti Fund to launch an irrigation project for the Litani River in South Lebanon. 

The bloc also thanked in its statement the Kuwaiti government for “contributing to the project.”

The statement also offered condolences for the families of the victims who died in the collapse of a building in the Beirut area of Ashrafieh on Sunday.

“We call on all the officials to seriously treat all that can threaten people’s safety, especially in terms of construction, nutrition and health.”

It also said that the collapse is “a catastrophe which revealed many weak points on many levels.”

An old residential building collapsed on Sunday on Al-Mitran Atallah street in the Fassouh neighborhood of Ashrafieh, leaving 27 people dead and 12 injured.
There was speculation that heavy rain may have contributed to Sunday's disaster, making the building more prone to collapse.
