Well-informed sources in Cairo airport noted that Amitai left the country along with eight embassy staff members.
The source also stated that the Israeli ambassador is expected to extend his “vacation” until next week for fear of the 25th of January’s one year anniversary celebrations, especially after threats of targeting some establishments and institutions.
Moreover, the sources pointed out that the surprising runaway of the Israeli ambassador might refer to a plan for taking over the Israeli embassy during the celebrations.
