The Arab League held a meeting Sunday to discuss the report on its observer mission in Syria.

The AL meeting is chaired by Qatari Foreign Minister Hamad bin Jassem Al-Thani and includes the Algerian, Egyptian, Omani, Saudi and Sudanese foreign ministers.

AL officials have earlier stated that league was likely to extend and expand the observer mission in Syria to more than 300 observers, despite Western criticism to its performance.

However, the Syrian opposition called for UN intervention.
