President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Mahmoud Ahmadinejad excluded Saturday the possibility of a US military operation against Iran, and disparaged the Western sanctions that were imposed on his country.
In an interview with the Mexican TV station Televisa, Ahmadinejad pointed out that the Iranian people will defend themselves against all the threats they are being exposed and that the Western sanctions will not affect Iran’s development.
The Iranian president also accused Washington of seeking to dominate the entire Middle East, stating that “Iran’s nuclear program was totally transformed into a political issue, and it has become clear that America and its allies are seeking in any way to prevent the Iranian people from developing and making use of the peaceful nuclear power… they are aiming at dominating the entire Middle East.”
Moreover, he excluded the possibility of a US military operation against Iran, pointing out that “we believe there are sane minds in America that refuse such crazy measures.”
Ahmadinejad assured that the Iranian people have learned how to adapt with tough situations.
