Iran Ready to Resume Talks, We Won’t Lose from Sanctions: Ahmedinejad

As he assured his country’s readiness to resume talks, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmedinejad accused the west of trying to ruin negotiations in order to put increased pressure on Iran.

As he assured his country’s readiness to resume talks, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmedinejad accused the west of trying to ruin negotiations in order to put increased pressure on Iran.

“It is the West that needs Iran and the Iranian nation will not lose from the sanctions”, Ahmedinejad said in a speech made in Kerman, southeastern Iran.

"It is you who come up with excuses each time and issue resolutions on the verge of talks so that negotiations collapse”, the Iranian President said, referring to the west.
"Why should we shun talks? Why and how should a party that has logic and is right shun talks? It is evident that those who resort to coercion are opposed to talks and always bring pretexts and blame us instead”.

On Monday, the European Union banned new oil contracts with Iran, saying it was “not confident” Tehran's nuclear plans were exclusively peaceful.

Iran confirms its program is for peaceful ends only insisting that is its right under the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty (NPT) while Israel, which is believed to be the sole nuclear power in the Middle East with more than 200 nuclear heads, is not a signatory for this treaty.
