Four American passengers were killed when a Grumman 21T aircraft crashed at Al-Ain airport in the east of the United Arab Emirates, the civil aviation authority said on Monday.
It said the plane, which was heading to Riyadh, crashed shortly after takeoff on Sunday evening. It later confirmed that the four dead were all Americans.
"Shortly after liftoff, the aircraft veered to the left and crashed on Taxiway Kilo," the aviation authority said. It said that the eight-seater aircraft, which had four crew and passengers on board, was destroyed by the impact and a subsequent fire. It added that an investigation had been opened to establish the cause.
