The Syrian Foreign Ministry sent a letter to the Secretary Generals of the United Nations, the Islamic Cooperation Organization, the Arab League, and the Geneva-based UN Human Rights Council, indicating that Friday’s crime was committed by parts receiving support from some Arab and Western countries.
According to SANA, the letter pointed out that “the two terrorist bomb blasts targeted a residential area near a children's park, a food products establishment and headquarters of law-enforcement members.”
It further stressed that “this horrible terrorist attack came within the framework of the unfair campaign launched against Syria. This campaign which is supported and funded by some countries in the region and instigated by some media which prove their support to the terrorist groups and gunmen who kill innocent civilians, destroy infrastructures, trains, buses, schools, oil and gas pipelines, state and private institutions in addition to electricity power stations.”
"The twin bombings resulted in the martyrdom of more than 28 citizens, injuring 235 others, some of them are children while others suffer very severe injuries," the Syrian ministry added in its letter, reassuring that “since Syria has the right to protect its citizens and combat terrorism and violence, it calls upon the Security Council to shoulder its responsibilities in combating terrorism and implementing the issued resolutions in this regard."
It continued: “Syria asks those who harbor, support, fund and arm these terrorist groups to extradite those criminals and terrorists in accordance with the international law and the resolutions related to combating terrorism.”
