The army forces were deployed on Saturday. Later, it sponsored a ceasefire between the two sides, al-Manar corresondent said.
The ceasefire was supposed to start at 4:00 pm. However our correspondent reported at around 4:20 that till that time bombs and shootings were still heard.
"At least 14 soldiers are injured, some are seriously", Fadi Mansour, al-Manar Correspondent said.
The army leadership stated that it has taken a decision to “firmly confront all who destabilize the security of the North regardless of their affiliations”.
Fierce clashes in the northern city killed two people and injured 18 others.
A Lebanese security official said that the dead were one of Bab al Tabbaneh and one of Jabal Mohsen.
“18 people were (also) wounded in clashes that continued since Friday between people from the neighborhoods of Jabal Mohsen and Bab al-Tebbaneh”, the official said.
Shooting broke out on Friday as gunmen deployed heavily in the two neighborhoods.
The two sides were firing guns and rocket-propelled grenades at each other in the clashes.
