“This tribunal is receiving orders from elsewhere and whatever ruling it hands down is null and void."
The Supreme leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei described as null and void any ruling by the Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL) probing the 2005 assassination of former premier Rafiq Hariri.
Talking to the visiting Qatari Emir Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani in a meeting, state television quoted Imam Khamenei as saying: “This tribunal is receiving orders from elsewhere and whatever ruling it hands down is null and void.”
The UN-backed Special Tribunal for Lebanon said on December 9 that it will "very, very soon" file indictments for Hariri’s murder.
Tensions rose in Lebanon after well informed media sources reported that the STL will indict Hezbollah in the assassination.
The party firmly denies any accusation in the case, saying that such probe is an US-Israeli tool aimed at targeting the resistance, the unreachable goal of July war 2006.
The party’s Secretary General Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah earlier said that Hezbollah will cut off the hand which will seek to detain any of its mujahedeen, urging the Lebanese government and people to refuse the unjust indictment.
