A US military aircraft has crashed in the Republic of Djibouti during a routine flight, killing all four US military personnel onboard, Press TV reports.

The incident occurred almost six miles from the international airport of the capital city, Djibouti, on Saturday at 8 p.m. local time, a Press TV correspondent reported.

The military plane crashed after developing technical problems, the report said.

The US military officials are set to issue a detailed report on the cause of the incident after the completion of an official investigation.

Djibouti, a Horn of Africa state, hosts US military forces at Camp Lemonnier, a permanent military base outside the capital that now houses approximately 2,200 American personnel.

Washington conducts its drone attacks on Somalia and Yemen from Camp Lemonnier.
