Iranian Ambassador to Lebanon Ghadanfar Roknabadi announced Monday that Lebanon is able to begin buying electricity from Syria in two months.
In a press talk with local channel OTV, Abadi said: “What is important for Lebanon is to have electricity”, adding that “the Western countries’ sanctions on Syria would not affect the power supplied to Lebanon.”
Iran said Sunday it is to supply Lebanon, Syria and Iraq with electricity in accordance with an economic protocol of understanding signed over the weekend. Iranian Energy Ministry official Muhammad Bahzad said of a total of 1,200-1,300 megawatts, Iraq would get 1,000 megawatts while Syria and Lebanon would share the remaining amount.
On the other hand, Iran will cut oil exports to other EU countries if their "hostile actions" continue, the deputy oil minister who heads the state oil company said Monday, a day after Tehran halted sales to France and Britain.
Exports to Spain, Greece, Italy, Portugal, Germany and the Netherlands would be stopped, Ahmad Qalebani was quoted as saying by Mehr news agency.
