Lebanese President Michel Suleiman hoped during his visit to Romania that a solution for the crisis in Syria would be reached as soon as possible, stressing the importance of exerting efforts to restore Syria’s membership in the Arab League.
Speaking at a joint press with his Romanian counterpart Traian Basescu, Suleiman also reassured his rejection to naturalizing the Palestinian refugees in Lebanon, and demanded Israel for the complete implementation of UN resolution number 1701.
“… We have focused on the importance of founding regimes that express the people’s opinion and respect the citizens’ freedoms and basic rights,” the Lebanese President said during the conference, adding that “we revealed our concern of finding a solution for the Syrian crisis as soon as possible.”
Suleiman also stated that “Lebanon will attend the coming Arab League meeting, and will take the appropriate stance from the decisions that will be taken, which will be based on Lebanon as well as Syria and the Syrian peoples’ benefits."
