A senior Iranian commander threatened the US that any military conflict with Iran will entail “catastrophic” ramifications for Washington as the Islamic Republic has ‘the upper hand’ in the Persian Gulf region.
“Considering the status quo in the Persian Gulf, the Islamic Republic has the upper hand in spite of the most intense pressures exerted against Iran,” said Admiral Ali Fadavi, the commander of Iran's Islamic Revolution Guard Corps’ (IRGC) Navy on Wednesday.
The Iranian commander warned that under the current circumstances, if the US harbors any plans for a military aggression, “they will suffer a grave catastrophe in economic and military sectors.”
Fadavi also downplayed the West’s mounting pressures on Iran’s economy and said that the enemies’ objectives to enfeeble the Islamic Republic through economic means will also end in failure.
In the latest anti-Iran rhetoric, US Air Force Chief of Staff General Norton Schwartz said US military is prepared for a contingency offensive against Iran.
