Two civilians were killed Monday in a suicide attack against the US military base at Bagram north of Kabul, an official said.
Taliban insurgents claimed responsibility for the attack, saying it was in revenge for the burning of copies of the Holy Qur'an at the base two weeks ago.
"A suicide attacker wearing suicide vest came out of the truck and blew up his vest outside Bagram airfield. As a result, two people are killed and four wounded, all were civilians," provincial governor Abdul Basir Salangi told AFP.
There were no US troops among the fatalities, he added.
