Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad met with Iraqi Vice President Khudayyir al-Khaza'i in Tehran on Saturday saying that enemies of Iran and Iraq seek to embark on any ploy to prevent expansion of relations and cooperation between the two countries.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran and Iraq have remarkable positions in the region and the world which is not apealing to their enemies,” he was quoted by IRNA news agency as saying.
Expansion of relations between Iran and Iraq at mutual, regional and international levels is vital for progress and development of both countries, he added. “Iran and Iraq share common history, civilization, culture and excellent geopolitical locations in the region and the world,” Ahmadinejad indicated.
“Grounds are prepared for expansion of all-out relations and cooperation between the two countries in the areas of culture, science, technology, energy, commerce and investment,” said the Iranian President.
For his part, the Iraqi vice president said expansion of relations between the two countries will deal a crushing blow to the enemies.
“Iran has always backed Iraq in hard times and the country is in dire needs of Iran’s assistance to pave its path,” he said. Expansion of relations between the two countries would help them turn into big powers in the region and the world, added the Iraqi vice president.
He called on Iranian investors and businessmen to contribute to the reconstruction of Iraq as the country needs Iran’s scientific assistance.
