Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa (BRICS) considered Thursday that dialogue was the only answer to the Syrian and Iranian developments, warning of “disastrous consequences” for any military action by the West or Israel to end the Syrian crisis or the dispute over Iran's nuclear program.
According to AFP, the BRICS added at “a summit aimed at bolstering their non-Western alliance's influence on global affairs their support for the Syrian peace process promoted by international envoy Kofi Annan.”
“We agreed that a lasting solution in Syria and Iran can only be found through dialogue," Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said in a closing statement at the one-day summit in New Delhi.
In parallel, Iranian official news agency IRNA quoted Chinese Commerce Minister Chen Deming as saying that his “country is not obliged to follow any domestic laws and rules of any particular country.”
