President Michel Suleiman called on Monday for intensifying the work of the government to finalize the draft laws pertaining to the state budget and parliamentary elections as well as the administrative appointments, the National News Agency reported.
“The political, security and economic stability in Lebanon is a good [base] for a phase of governmental production in all fields,” Suleiman said.
According to Now Lebanon Lebanese website, the report added that Suleiman discussed the Special Tribunal for Lebanon’s work and indictment with STL President Judge Sir David Baragwanath, who later met with the Prime Minister Najib Miqati as he is expected to meet with several other senior Lebanese officials.
The National News Agency said that Suleiman discussed with Baragwanath at the Baabda Palace the progress of the STL’s work and the previous indictments it had issued.
Baragwanath arrived in Lebanon on Sunday night from Frankfurt, Naharnet website reported.
Baragwanath was elected STL President after Judge Antonio Cassese stepped down in October 2011 on health grounds. Cassese later passed away.
