Iranian News Agency IRNA reported Thursday that Imam Khamenei granted the amnesty upon a request by Judiciary Chief Ayatollah Sadeq Amoli Larijani and in the occasion of the Islamic Republic Day.

The Islamic Republic Day is on the 31st of March and marks the day when Iranians voted for the establishment of the Islamic Republic after the ouster of the Shah of Iran in 1979.
