Iraq will head the Arab Ministerial Committee summit of Doha Tuesday, which will tackle the Syrian crisis.
The Arab League will hold the meeting of the Ministerial Committee for the Syrian crisis Tuesday evening instead of Wednesday at the request of members of the committee due to the "hazardous conditions" witnessed in Syria.
Permanent representative of Iraq in the Arab League Qais al-Azzawi said that Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari will represent Iraq at the meeting in Doha as head of the current Arab League.
Besides Qatar and Iraq, the committee includes the foreign ministers of the Sultanate of Oman, Egypt, Sudan, Algeria, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia, and will discuss the developments regarding the Syrian file.
The Secretary-General of the Arab League Nabil El-Arabi will also attend the event.
The Committee meets in conjunction with the international observers’ mission in Syria and the cease-fire under the plan of the International peace mediator UN envoy Kofi Annan.
The joint UN Arab envoy Kofi Annan will also participate in the committee's meeting where he will present a comprehensive report about his mission in light of the recent UN Security Council resolution about sending international observers to Syria to monitor the ceasefire, AK news agency reported.
Deputy Secretary General of the Arab League ambassador Ahmed Ben Helli said in a media statement that the decision to send international observers to Syria to monitor the ceasefire represents international will to support Annan's mission.
The Security Council approved unanimously last Saturday to send 30 unarmed observers to Syria to monitor the ceasefire in the country.
It is considered the first decision to be issued by the Security Council about Syria where previously Russia and China twice prevented the issuance of the decision through the use of the veto.
