Bahrain Continues Violent Crackdown ahead of Formula One Race

Bahraini Security forces continued its repression against peaceful protestors Friday and arrested member of Al-Wefaq National Islamic Society Mahdi Al-Akari ahead of the Formula One race which is set to take place Sunday.

Bahraini Security forces continued their repression against peaceful protestors Friday and arrested member of Al-Wefaq National Islamic Society Mahdi Al-Akari ahead of the Formula One race which is set to take place Sunday.

In Sanabes and several other towns, dozens of protestors demanding freedom and the release of political detainees were wounded after the security forces used fission and gas bombs against them.

Al-Wefaq society condemned in a press conference the security forces’ violent crackdown, as society member Mattar Mattar assured that the use of violence have increased lately.

In parallel, AFP reported that “protesters have blocked several main roads leading to the Sakhir circuit where Friday's Formula One practices were taking place, while the February 14 Youth Movement called on social networking sites for three days of rage to coincide with the event.”
