The Islamic Republic announced on December 4, 2011 that the spy drone, RQ170, which had violated Iran’s air space, had been downed by the armed forces of the Islamic Republic, and has said ever since it would reverse-engineer the drone to make its own.but did not say when the incident occurred.

Also on Sunday, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Grand Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei visited the achievements of ground forces of the Islamic Republic Army of Iran, state news agency IRNA reported.

His eminence inspected as well parachute training unit designed by domestic specialists and communicated via video-conference with commanders of Abuzar garrison at Sare-Pole-Zahab and the Aviation service of the ground forces in Zahedan.

General Commander of the Army of the Islamic Republic of Iran Major-General Salehi welcomed the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces (Sayyed Khamenei) and presented a report on the performance of the Army.
