For his part, Al-Ghannushi indicated that the Islamic revolution in Iran inspired the movements and the people opposing arrogance and tyranny, and praised Tehran’s supportive stances to the Tunisian people’s struggle against dictatorship.

Salehi-Abdul SalamSalehi, who arrived to Tunisia on Monday, had met Tunisian Foreign Minister Rafiq Abdul Salam and discussed with him regional and international developments, as well as the importance of strengthening bilateral relations on political, cultural, and economic levels.

“I came to congratulate the Tunisian people for the victory of their revolution which motivated the uprisings in the region… we will also tackle during the visit the bilateral relations between Tunisia and Iran on various levels,” Salehi told reporters.

In parallel, Abdul Salam told Al-Manar reporter in Tunisia that “Dr. Salehi’s visit to Tunisia is an important one. We will be discussing the bilateral relations between our countries and fields of reinforcing them in the future as well as ways to strengthen relations between the Islamic countries in a way that serves the peoples’ benefits.”

The two parts also held a joint press conference in which Salehi responded to a question on Syria saying that “Iran renews its support to Kofi Annan’s plan in Syria, so that violence in the country ends.”

He also reassured his country’s rejection to arming the “opposition” and intervening in the Syrian affairs.

On the other hand, Salehi met with Tunisian Prime Minister Hamadi Jebali and delivered to him an invitation to visit Tehran soon. For his part, Jebali praised Iran’s scientific achievements and powerful international position, and considered that the Islamic Republic is an honor to the Muslims.
