Assad: Elections Proved People Weren’t Scared of Terrorists’ Threats

Syrian people hadn’t got frightened by the terrorists’ threats who tried to thwart the elections or force the authorities to cancel it

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad indicated that the legislative elections that took place in Syria recently formed an important step and a part of the reforms implemented by the authorities.

Assad supporterIn an interview with "Russia 24" channel, President Assad stressed that the Syrian people hadn’t got frightened by the terrorists’ threats who tried to thwart the elections or force the authorities to cancel it.

Syrian president pointed out that the results of the voting shows that the Syrian people still support the reforms approach announced by the Syrian authorities a year ago.

According to official data that turnout of the elections reached 51.26% of registered voters in Syria who voted in the elections that took place on May 7. The National Unity list won in the elections after results were announced late Tuesday.
