Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas' Fatah Party announced Wednesday that it backs the reshuffled government that Prime Minister Salam Fayyad heads, which was sworn in at Abbas' headquarters in the West Bank city of Ramallah earlier in the day.
The central committee of Fatah Party said in a press statement that referring to Abbas' letter of designating Fayyad to head the government, Fatah party backs the government to implement its missions.
"These missions are related to development, creating job opportunities and achieving the best services and social welfare for our people," said Fatah Party's statement.
Meanwhile, Islamic Hamas movement slammed Abbas for reshuffling his West Bank-based government.
Hamas considers that Abbas' step was "unjustifiable and complicates the efforts to achieve a national reconciliation and harms the interests of the Palestinian people," said Salah Al- Bardaweel, a spokesman for Hamas.
But Abbas has often accused Hamas, which routed his forces in Gaza in 2007, of blocking the implementation of the latest reconciliation deal, brokered in February by Qatar.
Earlier on Wednesday, Fayyad and 23 ministers took the oath before Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas after a decision of reshuffling the former government.
Fayyad was the first who was sworn in by putting his hand of the Holy Quran and reading the oath that oblige the minister to respect the law and constitution and fully defend the interests of the Palestinian people.
The 23 ministers followed Fayyad and read the oath in front of Abbas. The cabinet included six women and five ministers are from the Gaza Strip, ruled by Islamic Hamas movement.
