A crowd of angry Palestinian on Friday tried to block French Foreign Minister Michele Alliot-Marie on her way into the Gaza Strip protesting France’s biased towards Israel. Dozens of protesters surrounded Alliot-Marie's convoy and tried to block her passage through the Erez Crossing from occupied Palestine. The protesters were relatives of Palestinian prisoners held in Israeli prisons. They were angry about comments made by Alliot-Marie on Thursday in support of captured Israeli occupation soldier Gilad Schalit. Hamas spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri said her comments reflected a "total bias toward Israel." Hamas police eventually dispersed the protesters and allowed her through. On Thursday Alliot-Marie met with President Shimon Peres and said she came to endorse and enhance the friendship that exists between France and Israel and to discuss further areas of cooperation.
