Cabinet approves Loans to Finance Ministry, Treasury

The cabinet on Thursday approved a series of loans for the Finance Ministry, the Treasury, and for a number of development projects

The cabinet on Thursday approved a series of loans for the Finance Ministry, the Treasury, and for a number of  development projects.

According to the National News Agency (NNA), the cabinet’s decision, which wCabinetere read out by Information Minister Walid Daouq, included LL10,394 billion to cover the expenses of state institutions in 2012 and LL600 billion to carry out development projects in Tripoli and other areas across Lebanon.

“The cabinet also approved the allocation of LL 450 billion for launching a number of development projects,” Daouq said.

Concerning the national dialogue, the agency said that during the session, President Michel Sleiman underscored the importance of national dialogue which contributes to reinforcing stability in the country.

Daouq said that Sleiman told the cabinet that his latest visits to Gulf countries aimed at addressing “the travel warnings that were issued by a number of Gulf states, in addition to the issue of the 11 abducted Lebanese Shia in Syria and the decision taken by the United Arab Emirates to expel a number of Lebanese expats.”

“The president also addressed the topic of the judiciary in light of the latest appointments to the Higher Judicial Council, while commending the work of Justice Minister Shakib Qortbawi,” Daouq said.
