The Lebanese-Syrian border has witnessed violent clashes and kidnapping incident fueling the unrest between the two countries.
Violent clashes erupted between the Syrian army and armed groups near Al-Qa’a town. Three Syrians were killed and ten others were wounded and were taken to Hermel hospitals.
The Syrian news agency SANA said that the passengers of two Syrian buses that were passing through Al-Qsseir-Joseiyeh which is adjacent to the Lebanese border were kidnapped by an armed group.
In Wadi Khaled, Suleiman Al-Ahmad was yesterday released by the Syrian authorities. Heavy celebratory gunfire erupted and he was welcomed by a mass rally. Al-Ahmed said upon his arrival that “entire Wadi Khaled is wanted by the Syrian regime and I thank the brothers from the Alawite and Shiite sects who contributed to freeing me.” He told TV stations after his release that “we were treated like guests, and they’ve been kind to us.”
Tit-for-tat abductions have been taking place in the Wadi Khaled border region between the two countries, where tensions have run high between supporters and opponents of the Syrian regime.
