Well-informed sources told Al-Manar website that anti Syrian regime armed groups have abducted a group of young civilians from villages neighboring the Haffa area.
During the incident, which occurred days before, the militants threatened to kill the civilians, the sources said.
The sources also believed the insurgents might commit a new massacre by killing the kidnapped civilians, so the regular forces could be held accountable for it, in accordance with previous statements issued by Washington.
Al-Manar website sources linked between the kidnapping and death threats on one hand, and statements of the U.S. State spokeswoman Victoria Nuland, who warned of a "massacre the Syrian government may be preparing for in the region of Haffa,” according to U.S. allegations.
The U.N. envoy Kofi Annan has expressed his "deep concerns" about the escalation of violence between governmental forces and opposition groups in Syria, and called to allow "immediate" access for international observers to enter the city of Haffa in Latakia region.
