Five Palestinians, including a woman and a child, were injured in Israeli airstrikes on southern Gaza overnight Sunday, medics said.
Emergency services spokesman Adham Abu Salmiya said Israeli warplanes fired missiles at a blacksmith's workshop in Rafah. The victims were taken to the Abu Yousif al-Najjar Hospital in Rafah, Ma'an news agency said.
Earlier Sunday evening, Israel bombed a site south of Gaza City it claimed was used by the al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas. That attack caused no injuries, Abu Salmiya said.
The Israeli military said it hit "a weapon manufacturing facility in the southern Gaza Strip and a terror activity site in the central Gaza Strip." The attacks were in response to rocket fire from the Gaza Strip, the army claimed in a statement.
