German Foreign Minister, Guido Westerwelle said Friday that Iran has right to use nuclear energy for civil reasons.
In a joint press conference with his Indian counterpart S. M. Krishna in Bangalore, Westerwelle said, 'We agree that Iran has the right to use nuclear energy for civil reasons' but it also has to fulfill its international obligations concerning transparency and the nature of its nuclear program, the Indian PTI news agency reported.
Turning on to Syria, Westerwelle said the developments in Syria are a matter of concern. 'We agree that it is necessary to support the efforts made by (UN and AL Special Envoy) Kofi Annan to find a political solution to the conflict in Syria,' he added.
Earlier, Westerwelle and Krishna had extensive discussions on issues pertaining to bilateral relations, G-20 process, global financial crisis, reform of global institutions including UNSC and global threat of terrorism.
