Bahraini interior ministry has issued a warning in an unusually harsh tone on Friday against holding an anti-government demonstration on the royal court saying it threatens security and social peace.
The statement said: "The interior ministry holds the organizers and participants of this march responsible for the consequences and reiterates the need to avert any confrontation among the residents that could result in unnecessary loss of life." "Under these conditions ... the interior ministry confirms that forces to defend public order will be present to prevent any clash that may occur between the residents," it added.
Bahraini demonstrators have geared up to hold an anti-government rally through the Riffa area, where members of the royal family reside. Observers say the rally may end in the first confrontation between the protesters and royals.
Tens of thousands of Bahrainis have poured into the streets in Manama since mid-February, calling for an end to Al-Khalifa dynasty that has ruled the country for almost two centuries keeping vigil in hundreds of tents in Manama's Pearl Square, which has become the epicenter of anti-government protests.
