Unknown Masked Men Attack al-Jadeed TV Building

Unknown masked men on Monday attacked al-Jadeed television’s headquarters in the Beirut neighborhood of Wata el-Msaytbeh, burning tires at the entrance of the building.

Security forces, in collaboration with the youth in the area and Al-Jadeed security guards, managed to arrest one of the perpetrators involved in the attack, and identified him as W. Alaeddine.

A number of political and party figures arrived at the scene of the attack denouncing the attack.

Al-Jadeed said Speaker Nabih Berri telephoned the channel, condemning the attack and stressing that Alaeddine is not a member of AMAL Movement.

Speaking to reporters outside al-Jadeed’s building, Interior Minister Marwan Charbel vowed to arrest the rest of the attackers.

For his part, Loyalty to the Resistance bloc MP Hassan Fadlallah condemned the attack against Al-Jadeed station saying that “freedom of the press is protected by the constitution."

The lawmaker on Monday evening called for an investigation into the attack.

“We call on the judicial authorities to follow up on this accident,” Fadlallah told reporters outside Al-Jadeed’s headquarters in Beirut.

Information Minister Walid al-Daouq condemned the attack as well during a telephone interview with al-Jadeed, calling on the judiciary to take the relevant measures.
