Lebanese Mufti Sheikh Mohammed Rashid Qabbani called for the release of the Lebanese pilgrims who were abducted in Syria when they were returning from a visit to Iran.
After a meeting with the families of the abductees on Saturday, Qabbani said there has been no information about the pilgrims.
The Mufti voiced his support for their demands, saying he would not abandon his efforts towards their freedom until they are released.
On May 22, armed groups kidnapped the pilgrims in the northern Syria province of Aleppo, while they were returning to Lebanon from pilgrimage in Iran.
The bus carrying the abductees came under attack on the Syrian-Turkish border by gunmen who took the men away and released the women among them.
