Syria hailed the stances of Russia and China at Geneva meeting which took place last week.
An official source at the Syrian foreign ministry said the position of Moscow and Beijing at the Geneva meeting, which was held on June 30, 2012, was marked by adherence to principle and consistence with the goals and principles of the UN Charter and the rules of the international law.
The source expressed Damascus's relief over the proceedings of the press conference held by Russia's Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov, at the end of the meeting, saying the concluding statement and the statements of some of the participants were examined in depth by the Ministry.
"Syria values the stance of the international special envoy Kofi Annan which he reflected in his press release at the end of the meeting and his keenness that all parties cooperate with his mission and abide by his six-point plan, particularly regarding halting the violence by any aside and disarming the armed groups to pave the way for launching the political process," the source said in a statement, according to state news agency, SANA.
Regarding western stances, the source said Damascus would not stop at the statements made by some of the participants, considering them as "deliberate falsification of the Geneva meeting's results and an attempt to stoke the violence and undermine the international envoy's mission."
The source added that those statements are reflection of the stances of the countries that are part of the crisis and are not helping in resolving it through comprehensive national dialogue.
