Five Palestinian children were injured on Saturday in an explosion in the central Gaza strip.

The explosion is likely to a shell fired by an Israeli tank, al-Quds hospital in east of Deir al-Balah said.

The children aged four to 10 and from the same family, were in light to moderate condition after being hit by the Israeli shell, the hospital added.

For her part, an Israeli army spokeswoman said she was not familiar with the incident, according to AFP news agency.
