In an interview with al-Manar TV, the minister said the plan to deploy army along the Lebanese border “has main goals, which are to control the border and to seal all gaps along this border.”
“The border l is 330 km long; it also includes illegal crossings within it. The aim of the plan is to close these crossings and to seal the gaps.”
According to the time of the plan, Ghosn said: “The issue is pure military, and the timing is to be decided by the army administration itself, which will decide the logistic and the technical way in which the plan will be implemented.”
But the minister said the plan’s implementation wouldn’t be in the far future, “it will be in the near future.”
Concerning the killing of Shiekh Abdul Wahid and his companion, Ghosn addressed who dare to criticize the army as saying: “The army is not the instigator of sedition in order to be referred to the judicial council.”
He stressed that the army “is not part of the political game and is not an easy target.”
As the minister said that the army has been supported by a sweeping majority of the Lebanese people, he stressed that army “will not be defeated,” noting that there were some sides which were “intending to harm the union of the country.”
