Foreign Minister Adnan Mansour said he will not summon Syrian Ambassador to Lebanon Ali Abdel Karim Ali because “brothers” do not summon each other
Foreign Minister Adnan Mansour said he will not summon Syrian Ambassador to Lebanon Ali Abdel Karim Ali because “brothers” do not summon each other.
“There is no need to summon Ali because there is no dangerous situation or emergency that calls for that and because brothers do not summon each other,” Mansour told An-Nahar newspaper in remarks published on Wednesday.
He said he was “delaying” to hand over Ali the letter of complaint requested by President Michel Sleiman in order to “verify security facts.” Mansour added that there was “no specific date to hand over the letter but it will not be [much longer].”
“It is not necessary to hand over a letter of complaint, but a letter [can be handed passed on] in a diplomatic way because violations are not one-sided,” Mansour added.
The Lebanese president had asked Mansour to send a protest letter against Syria violations to the Lebanese border. Sleiman "has asked Mansour to send a letter to Syria's ambassador to Lebanon, addressing the Syrian authorities, to protest this issue," a statement said.
