KSA Invites Ahmadinejad to Mecca Summit

The Saudi Arabian government has invited Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to an emergency Islamic summit to be held in Mecca mid of August.

Mohammad Sheikhan, caretaker of Information and Communication Center of Iran, said the Saudi Arabian ambassador to Tehran has presented the official invitation.

He stated the President has not yet decided to attend the event, adding that the decision is under revision.
Sheikhan noted the latest regional developments will be reviewed during the summit.

Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast announced on July 24 that if an extraordinary summit of Muslim leaders is to be held in Mecca, the crisis in Bahrain should be top of the agenda.

According to reports, Saudi King Abdullah had called for an emergency Islamic summit in Mecca on August 14, 15 to address risks of “sedition” threatening Muslim countries.
