Sinai attack on Egyptians; August 05, 2012Under the title of Egypt’s Challenge, the daily said that “now is the time for Morsi to choose the West over Iran and strengthen ties with Israel to combat our common enemy: terrorism.”

“With a tragedy on the Egyptian side and another averted on the Israeli side, the escalation along the border is of extreme concern to Israel – but no less so to Egypt,” it noted, pointing that Sinai – which served as a money-making international tourist attraction in the past, has changed since the fall of Hosni Mubarak in February last year, and security on the border has become a serious problem.

The daily believed that it won’t be easy for Egyptian authorities to reassert control in Sinai and along the border with the occupied territories, unless it got the help from the Zionist entity and the United States.

Egyptian President Mohammad MorsiIn this regard, Jerusalem Post noted, what is required from Egypt is a concerted campaign to expel Iranian-backed terrorists, remove arms caches in Sinai and Gaza, and halt the funding and training of Sinai Beduin by Iran, Global Jihad and al-Qaida.

“Above all, this is a test for Egypt’s new president. Now is the time for him to choose the West over Iran and strengthen ties with Israel to combat our common enemy: terrorism.”

“If Morsi can restore calm on the Egyptian-Israeli border, the impact on the whole region will be enormous,” the Zionist daily concluded.
