Secretary General of Iranian National Security Council, Saeed Jalili met on Wednesday with Iaqi Parliament Speaker Osama al-Nujaifi and foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari, as he discussed with them the ongoing crisis in Syria.

Iraqi media said that Jalili and Nujaifi talked about the events in Syria and the sectarian tensions in the region.
"We assured on the necessity of settling the current Syrian crisis, and let the self-determination to the Syrian people”, Nujaifi said in a press conference held at Parliament building on Wednesday.

"Jalili visited us to know the Parliament point of view over the Syrian crisis," he concluded.

Meanwhile, Zebari and Jalili discussed the mutual relations and the political updates in the region.
"Zebari received Jalili in the Ministry headquarter on August 8, where they discussed the regional and international updates in addition to the Syrian situation”, stated a statement by the Iraqi FM.

"The two sides also discussed Syrian critical situation after violence increasing, and the absence of political settlement,in addition to discussing the latest developments of the Iranian nuclear program," added the statement.
