White House candidate Mitt Romney has chosen Republican Representative Paul Ryan as his running mate, the Romney campaign announced early Saturday.
The selection was first announced in a brief email message sent by the campaign to reporters said that Romney-Ryan was the Republican ticket. It was soon followed by a statement from the campaign that said that "Mitt Romney today announced Wisconsin Representative Paul Ryan as his Vice Presidential running mate."
No other comments were made. The announcement was followed by a brief Ryan biography. Ryan's selection will be officially announced at 9:00 am (1300 GMT) during a prime photo opportunity at the USS Wisconsin, a decommissioned World War II-era battleship that also saw service during Operation Desert Storm in 1991.
