Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Grand Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei Thursday visited the quake-stricken areas in the East Azarbijan Province, northwestern Iran.

During his visit, his eminence said the Iranian nation is unified and such solidarity has made it stronger.
Imam Khamenei called upon the people hit by the disaster for patience and cooperation with the government in carrying out reconstruction program.
The Supreme Leader hoped the reconstruction drive will help improve the situation better than before.
Ayatollah Khamenei said the rescue operations have been satisfactory and of course the officials have heavy responsibility to rebuild the devastated areas resistant to quake.
The province was hit on August 11 by two devastating earthquakes which claimed 306 lives and injured thousands of local residents.
The twin quakes were ever since followed by hundreds of aftershocks.
